These dun to foxy, stocky horses with extremely strong nerves are the all-terrain version of our friends on four hooves. No mountain slope is too steep, no alpine ridge too narrow, in the worst case they will slide down a mountain side on their backside.
Riding for beginners at the Austrian Alps

Beginners start their first lesson on horseback with the lunge, a long rein on which the horse is made to move in circles around its trainer. After a few lessons with the safety of the lunge it is time to start directing your horse on your own. Thighs, bodyweight and reins show your four-legged friend in which direction to move.
