Cross country & backcountry skiing in Tyrol

Lately Arlberg has been the subject of conversation amongst cross-country skiers, too. The Land of Tyrol awarded the approximately 40 kilometre-long network of trails with the cross-country skiing seal of approval.

The fundamental criteria for the award were the high degree of snow reliability, the good signposting of the routes, the number and length of the trails with varying degrees of difficulty and as well as the parking facilities for day visitors. The approximately 40 kilometre long network of trails offers numerous comfortable but also sporting variations and consequently all sorts of diversity.

ST. CHRISTOPH TRAIL 2,5 km

A high trail of medium difficulty at 1800m with skating track. Ideal point for meeting downhill skiers.

STANZERTAL TRAIL 22 km

The start is near the Wellness Park in Pettneu. A problem-free trail along the Rosanna to Flirsch or St.Anton.

GANDERAU TRAIL 3 km

The start is to the east of the Tirolerhof Hotel. An easy circular route which is also suitable as a trail for dogs. Connects with the Stanzertal trail.

VERWALL TRAIL 10 km

One of the most beautiful trails in Austria starting 200m to the west of the Mooserkreuz Hotel.
Alternating ascents and downhill runs lead the trail through the romantic Verwalltal to the Rasthaus Verwall travellers’ inn and to the reservoir.

Skating

The skating tracks are drawn alongside the classic cross-country trails. After heavy snowfalls about 1 day later.
